Why I Hate ” ‘Health’ ‘Food’ “

Christian America suffers three great follies. Actually there are four, but I have not revealed the fourth one yet.

The first folly is health food. Or as I call it, ” ‘health’ ‘food’ “. It isn’t healthy, and it isn’t food.

Some Christians are a little bit bothered by this, thinking that I’m looking for some sort of salvation based on Twinkies. Well, that’s not the case. There’s nothing that you can put in your mouth and chew that will save you, except for the bread of life, of course.

The reason I believe this is because I love Jesus, and I revere his Word. That’s where my hatred for the foolishness of health food comes from. If you want to take a Bible journey with me to understand this, then turn to page 852.

“Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, through the insincerity of liars whose consciences are seared, who forbid marriage and require abstinence from foods that God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, for it is made holy by the word of God and prayer.”

Look around you right now. Tell me if or not those who are under the influence of demons are teaching against marriage. You know, with same-sex marriage, there’s an argument back and forth in America. There are some people who say, what does it matter anyway? What business does the state have in ordaining a marriage? What does it matter, a man and a woman, two men, two women, just do whatever you want. In fact, don’t even get married at all. Marriage is repressive. Paleolithic man didn’t marry. Nobody knew who the father was. The whole tribe took care of the kids.

People are repressed by marriage, and don’t have a full sexual experience. They’re burdened by only being with one partner when they should explore other sex partners besides just one wife. Sow your wild oats. Women, why turn to your husband for your sexual pleasure? You’re in charge of your own orgasms! If a man doesn’t take care of his girlfriend, the package delivery guy will. But you shouldn’t feel jealous or guilty about that. Because you shouldn’t feel the feelings you feel to want to get married.

That’s where we’re headed right now. The world is teaching us to abstain from marriage.

And how about health food. The US government, the office of the First Lady, Boston’s mayor, New York’s mayor, countless other government organizations, ban certain foods. I think the best examples of this are fatty foods and sugary foods.

But when we turn to Scripture we see, “Everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, for it is made holy by the word of God and prayer.” In 1980, when the US government suddenly decided that eggs were bad, if the Christian church had stood up and said, “US government, you’re wrong. Eggs are good. They’re created by God, and we’re going to eat them because the Bible says so.” If we had done that then, our wisdom would have been proven. It could have been a great increase to our testimony.

But as it is, we didn’t. Why? Because we were afraid. Afraid of science.

Well, science is a fallacy. Some people disregard black letters on a white page, and instead listen to the teachings of a red man in a white lab coat.

You’re a jackass. Lets see how much this works out for you. Hopefully more Christians will eat more chikfila and just die off quicker.

    Hi Jimmy,
Funny thing about the Bible….there’s about a eight different versions, and they all number their pages differently from each other. If you want your readers to actually read a bible and look up the things you are talking about, please let them know the chapter and verse, and ignore the page numbers. That way they can look up what you are referring to and form their own opinions of what it means.

Personally, i am not afraid of science, and, in fact, I am a scientist (as is your lovely wife, if I recall correctly), but not everything you hear from a scientist is necessarily so. Truth is sometimes hard to find. Sometimes the best we can do is to look at all the data and form our own opinions of what it means.

I like the bible when it tells me to live a good and generous and kind life, but when it tells me to accept slavery, kill people, and regard perfectly lovely people as an abomination, I have a hard time with that obedience thing. There are so many contradictory things in the bible, that obedience is really impossible, even if one could stomach it. Personally I don’t regard the Bible as a history book, a science book, or a rule book. I look at the Bible as a collection of stories describing the times in which it was written, and for the purpose of stimulating thought and discussion about what we believe, and how we should live, as a part of our spiritual faith. Just my opinion, and we all have to form our own opinons of what it means.

Jimmy, you are a good writer. Sometimes writing helps us think more clearly about those things that interest us. Keep thinking and writing.

    Best regards,
    Aunt Kathy

Thanks for commenting, Aunt Kathy. I appreciate how you’re willing to publicly admit to being related to me! Lol. I agree with you that we all need to look at the data and form our own opinions. Yet we don’t. This is true about the natural world and the supernatural world. We listen to men wearing the vestments of the church rather than God. We listen to the men dressed in white lab coats rather than our own objective reasoning. If Stanley Milgram can know this, certainly the Devil does, too.

Yes, the Bible is a collection of stories written over thousands of years. If God is patient to take that long revealing his wisdom to us, you and I need to be patient when trying to understand that wisdom.
But I can fast track some of that understanding by pointing out how America has condemned certain foods as “bad.” The very fact that we declare certain foods to be bad proves the Bible. The specific foods that we declare to be bad disproves science. Humans ate salt from day 6 of creation all the way to the modern age then suddenly science says, “Salt is bad for you.”
Btw, I reference the Bible by page number because it sounds more authoritative. Besides, most kids these days have Bible apps. They can do a key-word search.
