The Pope Resigned

the pope resigned

Loading instant coffee up into your mustache is the best way to wake.

Early Monday morning Ray Flynn was on the radio. I thought that maybe he had a new show on WBZ because he was talking for so long. About what I couldn’t tell. Until I dipped my mustache into my instant coffee. That’s really the key to caffeine absorption. Through the mustache. But anyways, after my alertness levels rose, I learned there was breaking news. The Pope resigned.

My first thought was, “Oh no. What if the new Pope doesn’t oppose Obama’s abortion and birth control mandates?”

What does that say about me? I don’t know. But yes, I did think that. You know what I preach. There are three great follies that afflict America. (Actually there are four.) One of them is birth control. And abortion goes way beyond folly into the realms of evil.

The Catholic Church remains an ardent supporter of life and family. It’s sad to say, but Obamacare targets the faith of Catholics, as if he’s categorically against religious beliefs. He demands that Catholic institutions pay for abortion measures. Our president betrayed Catholics who supported him. But what do you expect? The Bible asks, “Can a man scoop fire into his lap and not get burned?” (Bible, Proverbs 6:27)

So I hope the new Pope doesn’t give into liberal ideologies. Because many of America’s leaders still respect the positions of the Catholic Church. It would be a shame if they lost even a bit of vigilance standing up for the rights of the unborn.

I’m not Catholic, yet I’m fascinated by how everyone thinks he can chime in on who should be the next Pope and what his positions should be. It’s the business of religion to tell you how to live, not your business to dictate the tenants of a religion.

So many people are like, “Yea, I’m Catholic, but I think women should be ordained.”

Okay, then start your own religion where women are ordained and call it the Caffolic church. But once you do, BOOM, it’s not Catholic anymore. So you’ve defeated your whole purpose.

Returning again to the subject of conscience and Obamacare, I ask a burning question. Why is only the Catholic Church allowed to protest Obamacare? That’s the way the story is framed in public debate. The media asks how the Catholic Church can meet the provisions without violating its conscience. But each and every one of us has a conscience even if we’re not a religious organization. How come we each don’t get to protest the Obamacare provisions? Can’t a corporation protest the evil of Obamacare too?

I’ll answer my own burning question, if you don’t mind.

The Godless liberals framed the debate in this way as the final step in eliminating God from America. America used to teach about God in public schools. God was the centerpiece of public life. But you know the story, some vague notion of “separation of church and state” became the reason to remove God from public institutions. God then was relegated to private life.

This Obamacare debate further displaces God out of private life and exclusively into official religious organizations. No longer can individuals or business owners even debate evils such as abortion. Only churches can.

Don’t believe me? Ask Hobby Lobby.

The Catholic Church is not the only religious organization opposed to abortion. But it’s the largest and most organized. In its history, it’s notorious for political maneuvers. By uniquely targeting the Catholic Church, Obama and the Godless Democrats hope to destroy religion and remove God from American life completely.
