Right Hook

A lot of people ask me if I think Barack Obama is the antichrist.

You’re asking me if I think that an angel came down from heaven to warn John on the Isle of Patmos about a man who wears mom jeans and can’t even throw a pitch to home plate.

Jesus Christ said that the antichrist has the power to deceive the elect, if that were possible. I know a lot of people who are elect. I get their email forwards. Like my mother in law, for example. They are not deceived by Barack Obama.

That’s kind of a mystery though. What does it mean? The antichrist has the power to deceive the elect, if that were possible? It’s a mystery.

I wonder what Glenn Beck’s interpretation of that would be. The antichrist has the power to deceive the elect if that were possible. You wouldn’t have a problem with Glenn Beck coming to your Christian church, preaching from the pulpit and giving his interpretation of Scripture, would you? Because there’s probably a weekend coming up when your pastor has the week off, maybe Glenn Beck could fill in and preach on that passage. Oh, wait. I just remembered. He’s busy that weekend doing some rally in the holy city of Jerusalem.

But to understand that passage of Scripture, I think we need to understand a little bit more about the King of Tyre.

“You are indeed wiser than Daniel;
no secret is hidden from you;
by your wisdom and your understanding
you have made wealth for yourself,
and have gathered gold and silver
into your treasuries;
by your great wisdom in your trade
you have increased your wealth,
and your heart has become proud in your wealth.”

and again, further down the page:

“In the abundance of your trade
you were filled with violence in your midst, and you sinned.”

Some people right now are like, “Jimmy, what does that have to do with anything?”

Well that’s what I’m asking you. The King of Tyre was made rich by free trade and wisdom in trading.

You people now are like, “Jimmy, are you trying to say what I think you’re trying to say? Are you trying to say who the antichrist is?”

No, I’m not. Like I said before, I find it disgusting to run around and point at someone and say he’s the antichrist. Because that’s saying that nothing’s going to be able to stop him here on earth until Jesus returns. Is that really what you want to say about any human being in our midst?

I want to remind you of the words of Paul, who said, “Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump?” And of our Savior Jesus, who said, “Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.” And more words of Paul, “Do not give the devil a foothold.”

When you watch a left hand and stare at it intently, don’t be surprised when you get hit by a mean right hook.
