The ironic thing about irony is that nobody even knows what ironic means. God knows what ironic means. He doesn’t tell us the definition. He demonstrates it. And ironically we prove what irony means. When we deny God’s wisdom and embrace folly, God gives us over to that folly. Thereby, we prove his wisdom. That process, irony, is hard to explain but easy to see.
Affirmative action is not Biblical. The Bible says, “Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: ‘It is mine to avenge: I will repay,’ says the Lord. On the contrary: ‘If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this you will heap burning coals on his head.’ ”
What does affirmative action say? “Is it ours to avenge, America. We will repay.” And ironically, the country that insists your skin color doesn’t matter needs a box to check in order to punish those whose skin color happens to be the same as slave owners. America then unjustly rewards every other minority, whether or not they have any connection at all to any other injustice previously perpetrated by the white majority.
This is unwise, and this is a sickness that even those who don’t know the Lord can recognize.
So why isn’t the church in the forefront of speaking out against affirmative action? Fear. Cowardice. Because they don’t know God’s word. They don’t hang on every word and seek to put it into practice in every way.
Once again, irony rears its head when we look at the man that we elected President. We imagine this man to be great. He is not great. His one characteristic that people voted for was the color of his skin. Once again ironic, since we insist that the color of someone’s skin does not matter. But here we have a man who is incompetent in every way, and is destroying our own country, and we’re fearful of speaking out against him for fear of being labeled a racist.
Who’s the racist?
The gospel that Barack Obama believes in is not the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The gospel that Barack Obama believes in is the one preached by Reverend Wright. It’s the gospel of vengeance. It’s the gospel that says, “I will repay. I will avenge. The country, the United States of America, needs to be punished.” Barack Obama is the man who’s willing to do just that.
